Glad to see that Monitor pass is open. I hope to get to fish Heenan lake next weekend but I will be coming up from Dorrington area through Ebbetts pass, but it is open for now.Great pictures.I always like the groves of aspen on the west, down hill side of Monitor.Keep sending the pictures.
Yet another great get away, Ski. We know the disbursed camping near Mono Lake from last year. We had a wonderful camp there. Thanks to Mr. BC for sharing this location!
Robinson Creek also takes me back. Years ago I did a backpacking loop, starting up Horse Creek, summitting Matterhorn, then off trail onto the YNP side (with illegal dog ). We skirted the backside of the Sawtooths then returned via Little Slide Canyon (I think you have a shot looking up L. Slide Cyn. in post#4 on this thread). I remember thickets of slide alder so thick we had to walk on the tree trunks and carry the dog's pack while she busted brush below us. But I digress...
I've camped in that area on the SE side of Mono Lake 3 times in the past 18 months! Next week I'll probably make it the 4th time. Am I in a rut or do I just know a good thing when I find it?
Yes, it's a great, beautiful, flat, clean location. And a great spot for photos, as yours show, ski3pin!
BTW: Your subtitle on this thread brings up a point that I wasn't going to mention, but since you did: Have you considered that you're missing a lot of quality television time Friday and Saturday nights?
Some day when I grow up I want to be just like you. I just need to take better pictures and learn to write a story. But I'll skip the part about considering 6:00 AM sleeping in. I gotta keep some originality you know.
Guess it wasn't necessary to send you a link for the fall colors report - you did your own recon. We were in Lassen, came down 395, and noticed a lot of green still but with some good color here and there. Maybe yesterday's weather will turn things a bit by this weekend.

If we got hooked on that TV stuff we'd probably stay up way too late and not be able to get up at a decent hour.
I'm in Los Angeles. I used to get up to the Eastern Sierra about 60 to 70 days a year, but I rarely go up there anymore. Seeing the OP's photos has got my blood pumping to get back up there!
