Baja Eating?

I got the kayak racks mounted and started packing today for next weeks Baja adventure. Can't wait for a hot beach and cold Corona.

Several months ago a couple of members mentioned a good eating place in San Quintin. If anyone knows of this place I would appreciate a name and directions. If anyone else has a favorite taco stand or watering hole between the border and Mulege let me know. I tend to get in a rut and stop at the same places each trip and would like to try something new.

Palapa de Mariscos al Paraiso in San Quintin (on your right heading South) has great food (thanks to Tomas Tierra for turning me on to that place years ago!)...try a cocktel de camarones...nirvana!!

In the San Ignacio square there is a nice little place on the north of the park, close to the mission with good little burritos...can't recall the name.

Dony's for carnitas in Mulege Centro.

Rosarito: Flor de Michoacan for carnitas by the kilo (N end of town, west side of main drag).
Santa Tomas: El Palomar (Can't miss it, best for breakfast, occasional abalone)
San Q: Tomas is spot-on.
El Rosario: Tacos Mision
Catavina: Cafe next to pirate gas barrels
Chapala: Rancho Chapala for machaca and huevos
G. Negro; Fogon de Sal for seafood

Stopping in Rosarito is not a good idea. Carnitas to go by the pound is a great idea Dos Hermanos in Maneadero is the spot. At the corner where you turn off for Estero beach. There is a traffic light and a Pemex, on the right. The rotisserie chicken is good there to.

Get some fresh tortillas next door and your set for an easy first nights tacos, and morning breakfast, and then after surf lunch tacos,and then your dog has a great dinner that night with the rest.Win win win win win.

Camel Racer, I think the spot your thinking of is Jardines de Baja, its on the way out to the old mill in san Q. It's been many years for me, but a nice sit down dinner was had.(I'm a taco stand kinda guy)

Thanks for all the good advice. I love eating my way through Baja and this is all great information.

Our usual 1st stop is Ensenada for a couple of fish tacos, pesos, Coronas and El Presedente. Never eaten in Maneadero but have tried the place in Santo Tomas a few times. There is also a good place at the north end of Colonia Guerrero. I think the Jardine De Baja in San Quintin is the place I was thinking of but Palapa de Mariscos also sounds good. Hopefully if I can get my butt up early enough we can make San Quintin the first day.

Keep the suggestions coming. I plan taking the list with me.

I'm internet shopping for insurance now so if anyone has a good source let me know. In the past I've used Oscar Padilla and luckily have never had to file a claim.

Baja Insurance

Dick (camelracer) We have always used Lewis & Lewis (out of L.A.) Good people ,Great rates easy to connect to.We always buy a policy for a year as it is cheaper than a shorter policy,We always stayed at least a month on our trips so it was cheaper! Hope your trip is great and the wind is lite!

I have used "instant mexico insurance" for years. Qualitas is the insurance they sell. I have had two minor claims with them over the years and was paid in a timely manner both times..DEFINATLY look into a yearly policy..This way you have to do another Baja trip within the year, and it's way cheaper..

In Saulzal (just before ensenada) on the left side just before the pemex "El Trailero" taco stand. Baja's best taco's and tortas de pastor...(drool)
