Cab Over Struts

I'm new to truck campers and just purchased a 2002 Lance 1130. The previous owner included some cab over struts (which are not the right size for my truck) and was wondering if they are really necessary . New ones to fit from Lance are $485.

I thought these were generic. There isn't much travel, maybe a inch or so, I found a pair at Walt's RV in Rialto,CA for $25 if I remember correctly. I'm sure they weren't more than 50 for the pair. The hood mounts were expensive from Lance. I still have mine mounted, I'm not using them. They are on a 04 GMC Sierra if your interested, I'd sell to for $35 plus ship.
They really help with the handling.
