********************************************

We have updated all the Oregon campgrounds and entered every Forest Service campground in Oregon. The result 868 campgrounds total. We also changed this page to a clustered map for faster loading and easier viewing:

http://www.camping-usa.com/campgrounds/oregon/

Also note that the city pages (seen below the state map) now have a map layout:

The hope is that in less than a year all states will look as good as Oregon.

There doesn't seem to be a correlation between the map and the list. The new blue and gold icons aren't on the list. There are numbers on the new icons but not on the list. Is this still in progress or am I missing something?

If you click the icon to the left of a campground in the right column it will locate it on the map. For this many points the regular Google pins become hard to manage. The city pages still have the old icons.

Ok, I see that now. Click on the icon for the location, the name for the information. The numbers in the large icons on the state map refer to how many campgrounds are in the location of that particular icon. I'm technically challenged but getting there. ;)

Good work.

The back arrow on my browser takes me all the way back to the Oregon main page when I have drilled down to a campsite detail... what if I only wanted to go back one page and check out the next campsite...

Other than that I like it. I will use it.

If I understand correctly you are saying that when you go to a campground from the state page, then hit back, that the map itself is reset to the default zoom rather than where you had zoomed in to look for a campground? If that is the case, I can't fix that. However, I do plan on adding a feature that is a link in a campground detail page that allows you to see all campground within a 50 mile radius of that campground and that page will look like the city pages so I think that will accomplish what you are describing.

Kind of. But when I hit the #'s I 'feel' like I am at a new 'page' and not just zoomed in. I'm not smart enough to know that the #'s are just preset zooms and not actual new map pages...

Say I click the main map #33, then hit #4, then #2, then pick a campsite and hit details. Review details - but I want to see the other campsite details - So I hit back. But I end up all the way back at Oregon - not the close up I was just at.

Yeah we are talking about the same thing. I'll get the solution described in place soon and I think you'll like how it works.

I won't be satisfied until you have the little back arrow that says "Go back to previous extent"

Doesn't work properly under Netscape. Please fix this asap

Sorry I don't think we can support Netscape anymore. You could try Firefox.

After pondering this for a while I have concluded that this is best managed on the users end. If you right click on a link and choose open in a new window, when you are done looking at that campground you can close the window and still be where you were at.

Right clicking works fine from my end. Will you clue in newcomers to Camping-USA on how to navigate through this?

Yeah we will do some guides at some point.

Wahoooo! Can't believe just how many forest campgrounds are packed into little old Idaho. Can't wait to use it to explore more.
