Coffee maker?

Once again, the best simple, easy to make coffee at home or on the road is Melitta pourover drip. You control the grounds, water temp, brew time, and have no mess to clean. I've done almost all the methods and nothing beats the simplicity and quality of pourover. I now brew mine into the 20oz Yeti styled mug (I actually prefer the ones from Walmart for a third of the price).

A bit off topic but still related. Years ago out at the infamous Song Dog Ranch in New Cuyama Ca., my dad was with his usual group of motorcycle friends out camping on the mesa. There was a motorcycle rally (think non Harley) going on that weekend. Some of pops friends had heard about his famous cowboy coffee and so gathered around the campsite waiting for the pot to finish and hoping to share in the black gold. Those that knew my dad, knew he always carried a handkerchief and that it was well used. I think it was from his generation of always having one in your pocket. As the coffee was finished brewing and the cold water sprinkled on top of the coffee to settle the grounds, he reached down to grab the hot pot that was over the campfire with his handkerchief. However his handkerchief ended up in the coffee briefly before being pulled out. One by one, the fellow adventure riders slowly walked away disappointed. My dad passed away last December at 94. He lived and I mean lived, for camping. Miss you pops.

My dad always had a handkerchief also, was a big coffee drinker. I can appreciate the story, sorry for your loss.

I still carry and use a handkerchief. And too bad the guys backed off the hanky infused coffee. I would have just said, that's what makes it famous!

I see that I'm not the only one.
At home I enjoy making a good pot of coffee on the weekend when I have the time to do so.
When I go camping it's all about simplicity for me so a good instant like Medaglia Doro just works...

We have now fully switched over to Medaglia D'oro (for camping). I just wish they sold a large can of it.
