Hwy 395 Closure

The way is shut between Walker and Bridgeport until September 19 to install wildlife underpasses. Sonora Pass (hwy108) will get you to Walker/Coleville, a detour to southbound is to the north at Holbrook Junction to Wellington,NV and eventually Bridgeport.

Closure has been extended to Sat., Sept 21 at 5 pm and I sure hope they mean it this time. I have to get some paintings to a gallery in Mammoth. The detour is not a quality road, is easily overwhelmed with traffic and adds an hour to my drive.

Kinda funny but not: when this project was being designed we were told the road may be closed for a "couple of days". By the time this is done the closure will be three weeks. But dang - it is so ethereally quiet without the steady stream of semis day and night - I am loving it!
