Crested Butte camping

Heading out to Colorado next week. Loose plan is to follow the Colorado Backcountry Discovery route from Buena Vista south to Telluride. I've never explored the Crested Butte area and if it sounds interesting I may decide to bounce around there instead. Thought I'd ask here if any of you have some info on nice boondocking camping areas. Also any general info on hikes and the such would be cool.

Go online to the wildflower festival July 11-23 I think. There are a lot of goings on during that time. I'll be there July 11
