Do you use water tank for drinking water?

+1 on Steve’s method. We use just under 1/2 cup of bleach without fragrance or weird additives. Fill tank, run thru the lines and let sit 24 hrs or so. Then drive around to stir things up.

We usually do this starting about a week before a trip. Drain tank, fill with fresh water, Drive around and pump water through the lines. Drain water heater also.

Repeat until no chlorine smell. We have well water so we can flush out chlorine smell. On the road, water supply commonly is city water which must have residual chlorine to meet safety standards. (Wife is environmental engineer)

We have learned to really flush lines well because the shock concentration of chlorine sitting in plastic lines in hot weather creates an unpleasant taste/smell that takes a while to get rid of.
