I'm not sure if the Lounge is the right place for this post. Maybe we need a history / natural history forum? Just thinking off the top of my head. :unsure:

I found a detailed article on Ghost Town Explorers about San Lucas Canyon Road that some may find of interest. I thought the before/after photos were pretty cool.
 
There's a neat spot at the top of the canyon that I call the Promontory that I've wanted to camp at since it was shared with me. The Racetrack is visible from there. Really cool stuff. Thanks for sharing the link.
 
I was just thinking that required some google earth and maps but now I can wait for the ski3pin trip report!

In addition to great views of Saline Valley, The Racetrack can also be seen.
