DV Trip Report

Thanks for sharing your trip. I love S.V. and really soak (no pun intended) up any TRs related to it. I've definitely noticed a uptick of visitors at the springs since I first started going there. I've heard that Instagram is the reason.

Yeah...social media is not your friend.

Thanks for your comment, since you've posted quite a bit about SV. I feel social media and very specific posts that use key searchable phrases (h-- spr-ng) are spreading the word. I don't use instagram, and won't post on FB with details. I try very hard not to be specific, and will never post a photo of the developed springs for that reason. You'll notice all my photos are of the surrounding area, but not the improvements. I am very conscious of saying too much, and would consider even withdrawing our blogs if feedback from this group tells me this is too much. I've long felt too much is said and photographed already.

Thanks Andy ,part IV & V very nice.
Looks real cold though.
The Burro pics are nice.

I couldn't get into IV & V on the last post so I just
went to your first post and at the end of III the next two were there.

I had the same issue and the same solution. The URL is formed incorrectly for these last two links.
Try these:
Part IV https://lighthawkphoto.wordpress.com/2019/01/07/2018-christmas-trip-to-death-valley-coso-range-and-eureka-valley-part-iii/
Part V: https://lighthawkphoto.wordpress.com/2019/01/07/2018-christmas-trip-black-hills-part-v/
Good posts & timely for us as we plan to go there at end of Feb assuming it isn’t closed then.

Hmmm... I'll have to fix those links.
Edit: Now New and Improved!!

Paul, this area won't be affected by the government shutdown, other than perhaps locking of the bathrooms?
We bring our own WAG bags and don't use the government services when we're out in the DV backcountry anyway.

Andy, We’ve enjoyed each and every chapter of your trip. Wonderful country, great photography, and super guides!

Our thanks to you and SR.

What Eddie said! I did the same thing on a cold, wet Sunday morning.

How long did Ms. Lighthawk have to stand perfectly still in order for the ripples to subside so you could photograph that mirror surface?

Nice, nice work. And not "Hobbled in the Haboob" this time. A home run!

Glad some of you are enjoying the story and photos!
I was losing momentum, but have to get back to it and write up Eureka Dunes.
