El Nino

Back before the Weather Channel started sensationalizing every storm that dropped more than a 1/4" of rain, this type of flow was known in the NW as a Pineapple express. If you follow the band of moisture back, it comes to us from Hawaii, hence the name. Luckily this time we don't have a large build up of snow pack, this warm moisture would wash it all away, increasing the amount of runoff incredibly. As it is, pretty much every river flowing off the Olympics and Cascades is expected to be in some stage of flooding, if not already. Luckily the temps are expected to start dropping so this will start changing over to snow at the upper elevations. Hopefully we don't get into a cycle of having some snowpack build up, then getting it all washed away by warm storm systems.
