Electric vs manual water pump

Pete,

I hear you on the different camping styles. After 30 years of backpacking and tent camping we wanted a little more comfort and that led to the FWC. We do carry a little more than we used to, but not much, it's just easier to get to. Also got tired of being cold in the morning so we love the heater. I describe our camper as a very fancy tent on wheels.

I finally looked at my water pump

The pump I have now is a small (about 4 inch long, 2 inch diameter) unit with 3/8 inch tubing connectors. I can see why it seems so anemic, as I found water in the motor assembly and lots of rust. I found one that looks like it at

and I'm wondering if this is the stock unit, or if something else was originally put in the camper?

Also, has anyone retrofitted theirs with an on demand type of water pump?

The water pump that you linked too will work. It will probably go out in a couple of years though. I don't recommend too much from that company. The one pump that you won't have a problem with is the Sureflo Water pump.

There is the link to their pump. You want the 1 gpm type. These pumps hold up forever it seems like. A bit more to buy but no worries down the road.

To change over to the pressure on demand you will have to change out all your fittings and your faucet. What is in the camper now is not designed to handle the pressure that a pressure on demand pump will put on the system.

Thanks Ben

I finally found one on-line and ordered it last night. I tried to find one locally to save the shipping time, but the RV shops around here cater to larger RVs and didn't have anything this small.

Anyway, thanks for the recommendation.
