A little rain and snow has not raised fuel moisture. Walker and Coleville on 395 are being evacuated. The storm wind driven fire is currently at 5000 acres.

Antelope Valley Fire

Another fire is burning on the southwest side of Reno taking out custom and luxury homes.

It ain't over 'til its over.

Some impressive dust storms in those areas too. Glad I didn't stay a couple days longer. Hopefully the rain moves in soon.

They believe the fire started near Mountain View BBQ in Walker, but the fire was not linked to the restaurant.

One report says the start was a downed power line. The local utility has de-energized the system.

The fire is now reported at 29,000 acres. It looks like in burned to the northwest across the Walker River, up into Antelope Valley and into the Sweetwater Range. Wow.

No further growth is anticipated. 395 is reopened.
That's great news!

Where's the best place to find the most up to date information?

The power of high wind urban fire is absolutely crazy. Last month we lost 2800 structures just north of Ashland in two small towns, Phoenix and Talent, in less than 24h. It looks like Dresden up there. It is emotionally mind boggling to see it! What's stunning for this most recent fire in Mono is that it's almost December!!! It isn't like that's classic fire season.
