Greetings all
We took a non-camper vacation because it was too far to drive. My wife and I flew to Florida and rented a car. We started in Orlando and drove down the eastern coast and then all the way down to Key West. Came back up through the Everglades and went up the Gulf side to St Petersberg and then back to Orlando and home.
However let me give you an assessment of Florida RVing. It is expensive. I stopped at a RV park or two in Key West and I saw $79 a night. Ouch. It would be hard to find a place to camp freely.
That being said it is an interesting state. Water sports abound. We snorkeled off Key West at a coral reef reserve. http://www.furycat.com/key-west/snorkeling.htm The wind was blowing quite a bit and the visibility was not a good as one would want. Key West is a low key scenic town. Open sports bars. Kinda cool. Waters are warm on the Atlantic side so it easy to go in the water, though shallow. The gulf side was cooler but still warmer than San Diego waters by a long shot
The Everglades were fascinating. Gators, turtles, birds, manatees.
I have posted some pictures on my site. More to come as I get some more editing time.
