Ford 7.3 Diesel Spare Tire / Exhaust Question

I have a FWC Flatbed camper mounted on my 2000 Ford with the 7.3 diesel and I's like to mount a full 34" spare in the stock location. There is enough room under there for the tire, but the exhaust is in the way.

I was wondering if anyone has routed a 7.3 exhaust in front of the rear tire instead of behind it? My concern with that is noise and any soot being swirled by the rear tire and coating the side of the camper. I've read this might be mitigated by extending the exhaust out a bit further.

Wondering if any of you have done with this with a camper on your truck? Or have any other suggestions on a spare tire mounting option? I have a motorcycle that rides on a hitch mounted carrier so that location is out.

Thanks!

Can't help with your exact question, but some related experience with a CTD. When we got it there was already an aftermarket, large diameter exhaust system that exited behind the right rear tire on the truck. It would soot the 1/4 panel fairly good over the course of a ~2500 mile trip. Two things changed that, I put a clamp-on turn down on it that I oriented pointing slight into the rear of that tire. I wanted the turbulence there to break up and blend the exhaust. I also put a mild fuel cam in the pump. That pretty much eliminated the sooting entirely.
