Using google earths history feature is fascinating. While I was using google earth to find my route on my last trip I noticed that hwy 88 appears unpaved back in the 60's maybe even early 70s. The route even shows up on 1940 imagery (musta been top secret satellite stuff back then). Its actually the first time I've seen google earth use old photographic imagery to mimic satellite data. Maybe it was used during the mapping of the present day route?
I was trying to look up the actual construction data of the current route and see if it conforms to what google earth shows but I failed to find the info. Anyone know of a better source of information? Or seen other areas where old photographic imagery was used to fill in for old sat data?
