Gross Vehicle Weight Rating

My 2 cents -
In my case I'm over about 6% of the time (20 days divided by 360 days). ...And I am only over by about 700 pounds.
I down shiift the automatic transmission to save brake wear.

What percentage of the time are you over gross? and by how many pounds?

You didn't state how far over GVWR you are, so it is hard to advise. I want to have margin in my life when possible, that's why I bought a 3/4 ton for my Grandby. If running an over GVWR rig, you can add margin by going slower, maintaining more braking distance and being very attentive where a kid or a deer (or a skunk) can dart out in front of you.

One rule you should not violate: Do not go over your tire weight rating!. Bad things can easily happen.

What kind of truck do you have? I can't tell from your pictures.

It's a complicated math problem. In short, you can get away with being 700 pounds overweight on a one ton or 3/4 ton. 700 over on a half ton, Dakota, or Tacoma is a different story, and not a good one.

I have had 4 different truck/camper combos the past 14 years. Feel free to drop me a PM since I am not on this forum often.
