The Boss of Me wanted an outing today, so we decided to combine disciplines and wander about Baker County looking for grouse and simply seeing the country after an absence (in that part of the county) of more than 25 years. Our goal was to get into the forested area between the ghost town of Sparta and the Wallowa Mts. We decided to make a loop from the small community of Richland, through the smaller community of New Bridge, to Sparta, then into the East Eagle Creek drainage.
Let me be truthful, no grouse were harmed on this overlanding adventure, as no grouse were seen by all involved. We did find some beautiful country, a bit of fall color, and traces of the early settlers.
A bit of fall color
An old stone house on Sparta Lane
No complaints, it was a nice outing.
