Hand crank roof lift assist

Ditto on the cordless drill. I didn't like the flex on the lift boards so I reinforced them . I removed the lift boards front and rear and found some thin rigid aluminum plate to use as a backer. After cutting the aluminum to size, I glued it t the back of the lift boards, drilled screw holes and reinstalled it. You can't see it unless you're looking and the stress of the lift is distributed over a bigger area.

'Stress of the lift"...good point..even though FWC says that roof can take a "1,000 lb snow load" it does not specify how much of a load the roof will tolerate during a lift or bring it down. It does recommend snow removal before lowering.

How much weight on top before damage can occur to frame during raising or lowering the roof?
