SOLD
We've had a change of plans and are selling our 2015 fully loaded Hawk Four Wheel Pop Up Camper. We picked it up April 2015 and had planned to drive it across country in 2015. However we had to cancel our trip and it was only used for about two weeks last summer by ourselves and our son and daughter in law all of whom are non-smokers. We paid $26,987, including tax and installation. We are asking $22,500 for the camper which is in mint condition. A list of the extras in below. If you are interested my contact info is: wken8@comcast.net and 206-851-6162. The camper is currently stored indoors at my son's shop in Boise ID. If you are serious and want to look at it, I can provide his contact info.

Extras

Mechanical jacks
Solar wiring on roof and rear wall
2-way 110 liter refer/freezer
Forced air furnace w/thermostat
DSI water heater with outdoor shower

Rear wall steps
Rear flood lights
Exterior LED lighting

What truck did you have it on? And was there any modifications required (airbags/etc?).

Thanks,

Matt

Thanks Ken and David for all your help. And thanks to all on this forum for all the education. Made the trip home easy.

Very happy with our (new) FWC Hawk and looking forward to lots of adventures. Spent our first night out on the way home in the Salmon River Canyon.

I assume this means you are the new owner of the Hawk.
Congratulations.

Are you a resident of Canada of the USA or both. I'd be interested in hearing about your experience in bringing it over the border.

Me too!

Yes, I am the happy new owner!

I live in Idaho and have a second home in BC. This is my first camper. Just brought it home today to Idaho, so no experience yet bringing it to BC. But I'll be going up next weekend and thought I would ask questions at each border to understand what I should and shouldn't do.

If I learn anything, I'll surely pass it along.

One of the things that I'd be interested in knowing about is the propane system. FWC Canada states that the units coming into Canada have a propane system upgrade to meet Canadian standards.

I'd probably send an email to FWC and ask what the difference is and if the parts are avail.

I'm sure the border will be happy to take any money for duties etc, but I'd definitely want to check out the propane so you don't have any potential hassles.

BTW congrats, that is a beautiful FWC.

BillD. That's a good heads-up. I'll ask specifically about this item on the Canada side.
If the unit is registered in the USA, and your primary residence is in the USA, then Canadian rules/regs don't apply. I think the difference on Canadian FWC only matter if you buy/own them here.

I'm still curious though. Someday soon I hope to find a camper, and it will likely be in the USA, and I will need to bring it across. Should be "fun"

That makes sense. Will still ask and see what they say. They are pretty used to seeing us cross. Our neighbors also bought a camper van last year. I can't remember if they bought it in the States but they've definitely traveled here for extended periods. So they likely have some advice.

Just came back from a trip to BC. I didn't travel with my camper but asked at the Canadian border crossing about bringing it in.

They indicated that for my case, where it was not staying, I would simply travel as usual. Nothing special.

They said if I were leaving it in Canada, that slide-in campers were treated as any typical purchase and subject to taxes. But that it wasn't considered as importing a vehicle. A quick web search found this reference where the camper is discussed as an exemption part way down the page.

We have a 2014 FWC and traveled through Canada twice in 2015 and we weren't asked one question about the camper. However, when asked if we had been to Canada before, my wife and I had a major geezer moment and said no. They asked several times and then put us through the ringer. We had gone to Vancouver in 2009 and forgot. They must have thought we were lying and went through everything and we had to have a background check. Let one person talk and answer the questions with as few words. No problems on 2nd trip in. Jd
