My hotwater heater is barely heating water. The propane flames are reduced from when it was new. Can one take the burner apart and unclog it? Is it another problem? thanks

You can try moving the temp from "low" to "med" see if that makes it hotter. You can clean out the burner for soot and spider webs.

That appears to be a Suburban water heater (with SIT control). It probably needs the orifice cleaned or the burner tube (which contains the orifice) replaced.

A few years ago I cleaned the burner orifice on my water heater, using a welding torch cleaner. Can't remember exactly, but I think I removed the gas supply tube and went in thru there.

Try a well placed shot of compressed air to clean out those pesky spiders first. Works every time for me.
