How centered is your camper?

On my grandby I get it close and then take the jacks off, then I physically lift and push it where I want it to go. I don't have a bedliner and it doesn't take all that much to move it an1-2 inches here or there. It slides much easier then you would think. At least it does for me.

If the camper is off-center toward the side without the fuel tank....
Your just compensating.

My truck has both me and the diesel fuel on the same side, so I probably SHOULD shift a bit out of the middle towards the passenger side.

So today, while, putting on my camper, I lowered one side a little further than the other, which caused my camper to shift a little to one side. So now my camper is on 1/2 inch off center. Basically it's tight on one side and not so much on the other.

Question: Several have mentioned "pushing it over". Are you folks aligning the camper by push it laterally when it is still on the jacks?

Any lateral load on the jacks would make me nervous! How does it work out?

Guys, we are talking about pushing the camper over 1/2" on a 4+ foot extension of the jacks. Jacks I have seen have more wobble than that.

Thats right, it is easy just push the camper over and let it down.

My dealer told me they had a hell of a time getting them perfect until FWC told them to just push them over a little while on the jack stands.

I like my camper centered as well, definitely OCD!
I usually just lower the camper so it's about an inch or two above the bed and push it over to center and lower the jack.
Works great. I only move it at most an inch, well within the normal side-to-side flex of the jacks.

Interesting and valuable first hand information...thanks. Since Ace!'s dealer is mine, I will be doing some "pushing"...I measured between the wheel wells and since the Hawk is 48" wide and the wheel wells are 49" getting too far off of straight will not be impossible but will be difficult. Even with LineX I should be able to horse it around the slight amount needed once it is in the truck and off the jacks.

Honestly, once on, we have no plans to remove it and will travel with jacks left in the shop. Got a great SnugTop for sale!

As CDO (like OCD, but with the letters in the right order) as I can be about a lot of things I figure if it's between the wheel wells it's "centered". Then again, the camper has been off the truck exactly once since we bought it and that was only to slide the rubber bed mat under it.

Get a couple of friends, jack the camper up just off the bed, push into alignment, hold and lower. Your back will thank you (especially later in life).
