There is a new adventure posted on Bosque Bill's Backroads travel & camping blog.

I spent the first week of October exploring southwest and south central Colorado camping and looking for autumn color. I found color, beautiful scenery and a bit of adventure, too!

I broke the narrative into three parts for easing reading (and posting.) If you want to read them through, you can start at the first, then click the links at the bottom of each blog page, rather than returning here.

Remember to click a photo to see them all in a larger size in a viewing window.

Thanks, I hope you will join me for some fall aspen.

Bill: Thanks for the trip report and the beautiful photos. Our son lives in Durango so we have been trying to get out there at least once a year. We like to camp and hike while out there. Your report has given us a number of places to check out. Thanks again.

Thanks Bill.Didn't know the railroad was back in use. When I was in that area in 1971,we camped in a meadow just under Pool Table Mt.
I looked at the map of that area and found the route I took in a 2wd truck. Up along Adler Creek rd than down Pool Table rd to Wagon Wheel Gap.
Young and crazy at the time.
Gotta watch out for those steep road shoulders.
Thanks again for the terrific photo report.

I appreciate these reports. Eventhough we live in Colorado there is still a lot of country to see.

A couple of years ago we went over Owl Creek Pass, what a nice area.

Interestingly that is where some of True Grit was filmed. The scene where John Wayne and Robert Duvall and gang had their shoot out was filed on Owl Creek Pass. The skunk weed was pretty high when we were there.

Also, the interior courthouse scenes were filmed in Ouray. There is a deputy sheriff posted at the sleepy courthouse and he was part of security for True Grit and can give some interesting local info. Ridgeway was where the hanging scene was filmed.

Thanks for your report I am enjoying it.
