Wandering around Costco the other day, I came upon these Duracell battery operated LED puck lights (https://www.costco.com/Duracell-Puck-Lights%2c-5-pack.product.100360557.html ). For $12, you get 5 lights, enough Duracell Batteries to power them all and a remote. Each light cycles through 4 colors but the remote allows you to turn them all on at the same time in the same color. The lights can be mounted directly to a surface or with the included base which allows one to aim them.

I mounted a few under the cabinets in my Eagle and two over the sleeping area for reading at night. I will test them on a trip in a few weeks but for $12, I figure you can't go too wrong.

They are also available at Costco online and I'm sure Amazon probably has them as well.

Cheers

I had very bad luck with these exact lights. The problem seems to be that even when turned off, they still use a little battery power. The result is that the batteries only last a month or so, at most. I was very unhappy with these lights. Maybe they fixed the problem but somehow I doubt it. It will be interesting to see your experience with them.

Parasitic drain seems to be a problem with LED lights. The same thing happens with some of my flashlights. They need to have an Off switch that separates the batteries from the electronics.

They look a little different than the ones I bought from Costco for the kitchen. My batteries also went dead pretty quickly. My guess is that the IR receivers slowly drains the batteries. It will be interesting to see if the new lights are better than the ones I bought sometime back.
