Jack options 1995 Granby

Hey there. I just bought a 1995 Four Wheel Camper, I think it’s the Granby. We need to install jacks and we’re trying to figure out the best option.

Our options are mechanical corner jacks,
Truck-titan Tripod heavy duty jacks with #1 bracket,
Or brophy cable camper jacks.

We don’t know what the frame dimensions are on the corners of the camper so figuring out where to drill the bracket to install jacks on the corners seems involved.

We are leaning toward the Reico-Titan Tripod heavy duty jacks but we aren’t sure if those brackets would securely lift the camper or if it may damage the plywood underneath.

Any advice would be awesome. Thanks so much.

First thing to do is contact FWC. The newer campers have a a solid piece of wood in the corners. There is frame and wood. You need to know what the construction of the corner is before you do anything.

I have an old Grandby and stripped it to the frame. There was zero support in the corner for the mounted type corner jacks.

I use the big old cable jacks with the big platform (the kind that uses only one on each side and you find the balance point), however, I have 4 of them so I don't have to balance the camper because its sketchy as hell... works great, quick and easy as nothing is bolted on the camper...

Same here: old Grandby and four cable jacks. I load in the spring and unload after hunting season.

FYI - I take mine off and on all the time as I need the truck for work.. you can get real efficient with it.. mine sits on harbor freight trailer and have it at a height so that I only have to jack it up a few inches to load..

As far as the cable jacks go, I’m living out of my camper, minimal storage. Does anyone have info on how bulky these are to store inside the truck vs the Reico-titan tripods?

I talked to FWC and he said that the brophy cable jacks are extremely precarious unless you are on level concrete. I’ll have to unload mine on dirt or sand. Anyone have experience with this?

Cable jacks are not something you are going to want to travel with, they are large, bulky, and heavy. They are a load the camper and leave them home appliance. They need a solid surface to rest on. I have loaded/unloaded on grass & gravel but put solid footings (concrete patio blocks) under the feet.

The one person I know with tripod jacks leaves the jack mounted and just stores the tripod feet.

You do know that the camper floor must be supported when occupied off the truck?
Camper must be dropped to the ground or some kind of floor support must be used.
