Latch screws broke off change them now

I had changed out the roof screws a couple of years back to stainless and painted the jack brackets. Well that did not last long. I will be changing out the jack brackets to aluminum soon. Back to the latches. Living in the SF sunset area we get lots of fog. I discovered a scewhead on the ground and found several screws missing from the latches. I started to change them out I broke off some so when you unscrew them go slow...........I tried the back the screw out but it's easier to move the latch up and drill new holes. All the screws that broke off broke at the depth of the latch plate. If you live near the coast change out the screws before it too late. My grandly is a 04 and I bought in used in 08 I changed out all latch screws today. The link below is the date I painted the jack mounts and changed out the roof screws.
