Anyone been over to the King Range/Lost Coast recently? I was thinking of heading over to Ursal or Mattole CG this next week or so, and was wondering what the road conditions especially down to Ursal are now. I was over by Mattole and Shelter Cove area a couple of years ago for a quick drive thru, but noted many changes from when used to play there years ago. Lot's of new dirt roads! Seems like they got some weather there of late so anything closed down?
I really don't want to stay at the state CG at Ursal unless I have too, now that the fee has been raised to $35.00 a day (that's another sore point-a prim CG with no water(-and me a member of the Ca Parks Foundation-gerrr!), so how are the beach camping conditions there now? I will give the BLM/state parks a call about before I go, but any additional data would be appreciated! Thanks!
