My nickname (call sign, handle) here is Weatherman, and I'm definitely a weather enthusiast (nerd). And yet, I haven't owned any [working] weather instruments in years. Last week I changed that, with this little guy:
It's by SensorPush. This model measures temperature, humidity and barometric pressure. It sends data by Bluetooth to an app on my smartphone. It's powered by a lithium disk battery. There's a little 'tunnel' molded into the plastic, on the top, that would facilitate hanging the sensor.
They make 3 different models; here's a link to a comparison of specs.
If not in communication with -- and transferring data to -- the phone app, this model will hold 30 days of data before it starts overwriting the oldest data.
This is how the current values look on the app:
And there is a graphical display of data history:
Data can be exported from the app in CSV format.
For more permanent mounting and use at a location that has Internet access, they make a gateway device that communicates with the sensor by Bluetooth and then uploads the data to a SensorPush site accessible by the app.
But I bought this to use while wandering, so my phone will never be far away for long.
I like the fact that this is just a sensor, that it uses the smartphone app for data display and storage. In that respect it's like the anemometer that I bought several years ago and posted here.
I didn't do any comparison shopping before I ordered this, so maybe there are similar, possibly better, alternatives... but so far I'm totally pleased.
