New to me Alaskan camper question.

I got my fantastic fan working! Seems to be original to the camper and is reversible. I'm missing the garnish trim ring. Anybody know which size to order?

Most are 14", they need to be cut to depth, they come about 4" thick, it's easy.

A couple of questions about mounting the camper again.

Does the camper need to have any weight sitting on the sidewalls of the truck bed? or should there be an equal distribution of weight between the floor as well as the sides?

The weight should all sit on the floor of the camper and truck bed

I shim the side walls up close to the top section only to avoid any motion while turning...I also have a small, very thin strip of foam weatherstripping to stop any..(most) of the air intrusion.

The CO I'm working on will have a 4" gap from the riser to clear the cab.....karnack sees some narrow drawers in my future....for fishing gear

If you have an older AK and a newer truck, you may need to raise up the AK a bit to clear the walls of the bed so the camper will set on the truck bed and NOT on the truck bed sidewalls...to do that you can't just toss in a couple 2 x 4s crosswise. The proper method should be to make a BOX out of 2 x 6s so the side walls, front and rear panels are resting on them and not just the floor panel...then add several cross members to support the floor and add inuslation in the voids. Paint them all beforehand with an oil based primer and finish coat to keep them from rotting and wicking moisture up to the plywood.

Do it once, do it right.

I have approximately 1/8" clearance between camper and the sides. However the brackets in the front sit on the sides.
I'll be working on that.
I bolted the camper through the floor with a 1" bolt through a 24" x 10" piece of sheet steel to the 5th wheel hitch. Hopefully this will prevent any sliding around until finding some happijacs.

Looks great! Clean and good fit. Very kool. You may already know this but you can take one bolt out the jacks and rotate the sideways so they don't stick down. There are usually clips that support them when they are up. I don't see the clips in the photo though.

the loops are there but it looks like they were mounted in too far for the jacks to slip in when rotated.

Yes Rusty got it. Jacks are down for convenience since I'm trying to get the loading right.
