In October, we took a trip through Oregon. First night just across the western border. We spent
9 days roaming through the state. We stayed on some forest river land outside of bend, and were hoping to ride the McKenzie River trail as well as a couple sections of the NUT. However, we got rained out of both. We made up for it by hitting up a couple beautiful vineyards and poking around the rainforest. It was truly breathtaking country.

We did manage to get a good flowy downhill ride through the Redwoods when we hit the coast and dipped down into California. It was pretty surreal riding singletrack through the rainforest, getting dumped out onto grassy dunes, wandering in and out of the treeline with waves crashing within eyesight, and taking breaks to check out waterfalls, all during the roosevelt elk rut. It was a pretty unique experience.

We wandered up the coast, checking out lighthouses and letting the dogs open it up on the beach. This was their first trip to the ocean, and they had a ball, even the 14 yo Old man.

Here's a little family pic from the morning after our first night in western oregon.

The two younger girls had a blast exploring and tearing across the secluded beaches. They absolutely loved the firm sand giving them a grippy, yet soft surface to really open up on.

Our vizsla, in particular, took full advantage of being able to really stretch it out and fly across the sand.

I look forward to hitting this area up again in hopefully drier weather so we can get on our bikes more. A ten day trip didn't do this country justice.

Our poodle mix loves the Oregon coast. Some (all?) state parks require that your dog be leashed. I think part of the Oregon coast is considered a highway except for parks that border the ocean. The beaches are public as opposed to Washingtons which are private except for parks. Oregon had the right idea. In Washington state, the Long Beach area is very dog friendly. Miles of sandy beach you can drive on and let your dogs run free.

The dogs always like sand to tear around on. Thanks for the report!

Another favorite the Oregon coast of ours.Although we are closer so we don't have to drive near as far.
There is so much to see and with our "winter" weather we are having now it's a good time to start thinking about getting out and enjoy the warm weather.
Thanks.
