Plastic fuel tanks

Planning on a 2 week run to Colorado this summer and a lot of driving will be gravel and dirt rds. Wondering if there is a repair material/method for repairing the plastic fuel tank on the truck in the event of a rock cracking or holing the tank. Tank is on a 2012 F250
 
Cross-linked PE is pretty darned hard to put a hole in to start with. Can be done of course, but the energy level would've holed a metal tank by then.
Agree, skid-plate it and maybe shield it if directly in the line of fire from front tires & close to them.
 
No stock skid plate, truck is new to me, plate is in the future though. I did add front mud flaps which help a bunch. Thanks for the replies.
