Project "M" ... New FWC Style

Great idea. I visualized being 25 and starting with the "M". Built in drawer system, Dometic Top loading fridge and freezer, 1500 Litium Yeti Goal Zero power pack, 2-100W Goal Zero solar on the roof. Some type of furnace/heater, sink module with foot pump, single burner stove top. What it would be like to be young again. At the same time I love my fully loaded Grandby.[emoji4]

Nice idea.Very minimal.
The price opens up the market.
My 09 Bobcat "full" camper was 9K plus options.
One thing I find strange is that the bedding is an option.
That out of the gate pushes the price close to10K.

It's not unlike what I originally was trying to do with a Leer canopy, 2x4s and sheet of plywood. I could never really make it work well, so I like what they're doing. Now though, my Hawk is about as minimal as I'd like to go. 20 years ago, I'd have bought an "M", without a doubt.

I like that you can keep your tailgate on and the mounting channels on the sides. I probably would've gone with this M style instead of my Hawk as my whole idea was to camp more outside rather than inside. BUT, my wife was getting tired of crawling into a tent and being cold and wanted comfort. I'd say the water heater, furnace and refrigerator really make camping easy again.

Now she complains about crawling up into the camper on the RAM truck...lol. So I got these steps...

I like the idea and am seriously considering getting one.

Pros:
Light - sub 500 lbs
Can be left on permanently and used as a shell
Fully customizable interior space
Keep tailgate on truck
Retain use of bed - dry storage of items

Cons:
Hard egress - open door and climb over tailgate, or open tailgate from the inside
Dust - I'm not sure if the tailgate area can be sealed
Bugs - no easy way to have door and tailgate open and keep out bugs
Cost - It's pretty spendy for a shell with a bed

All in all I feel it is a better option for me than a roof top tent or a dedicated camper. Maybe Marty at All Terrain Campers will start making them?
