Hi all,

Ive got to remove my batteries from my camper for the remainder of winter. I have solar charging and am wondering what i need to do to the terminal wires? electrical tape the ends?

My process:
  1. Remove fuse connecting + wire from solar to charge controller (important to be first).
  2. Remove fuse connecting battery + terminal to camper (disconnects battery from camper).
  3. Remove all other wires connected to batteries.
  4. Remove batteries.

Take a picture and/or mark wires before you start.
It never hurts to cover dangling wire ends with electrical tape.
Always be careful to NOT short wires between + and - battery terminals.
Always wear eye protection.
Solar panels are OK left open circuit.

The only thing I would add is when removing any battery cables. Alway remove the ground cable first. That way, you minimize the risk of a wrench on the positive post touching a grounded chassis. You can do some impressive welding if the wrench touches a grounded frame. Don’t ask how I know.
