Hey all,
Thanks for lots of info thus far. I just picked up a 2002 Hawk that was in pretty dirty condition. So far I've found a few rotten boards and a leaky roof. I have taken the advice I found in the forum and replaced all the roof screws with larger 1"x10 and neoprene gaskets, also used polyurethane caulk on the threads of the new screws ( I wish I had used stainless in hindsight but already had galvanized from another project and didn't feel like heading back out to the hardware store.)
So far- I have a couple questions.
1) The previous owner had a cargo rack that I have removed and I need to patch the holes. He had used 1/4" bolts with polyurethane caulk. What is the recommended way to to patch holes on the roof?
2) I pulled off both pieces of trim that hold the fabric and it seemed like there has been water leaking there as well. I noticed some of the staples are rusting. My plan here is to use the previously mentioned eternabond roof seal tape and polyurethane caulk with new stainless #10 screws to reattach the trim piece. Is there anything else to address when I have the trim piece off?
- There are a few holes in the canvas, that were put in from attaching the roof strut.
