Solar Connection to Dual Camper Batteries

Two 12 volt batteries in parallel, for 12 volts total.

Do I hook the positive of the solar controller to one battery and the negative to the second battery?

Yes, they say it's best to do it that way. That way it ensures that both batteries 'participate' equally.
That's how my dual batteries are connected to the charging source (and to the load).
