On our way to the Warners in a couple of weeks. We'll be camping around Mono Lake for night one, after a jump over Tioga Pass. Looking for a night spot north of Tahoe/Reno area. We don't want any long driving days, but I think this might be one to get to a scenic, non-populated, dispersed FS spot out there. Any ideas? Thanks!

You could poke around in the Plumas Nat Forest north of Sierra Valley. One way in is to head north from Chilcoot toward Frenchman's Lake.

Yeah, tons of dispersed camping locations along the Plumas there. Plus theres at least four or five ways to access it off 395.

Yes! One of my favs is the road heading up from 395 at Doyle.

Interestingly, DD's other site Camping USA just posted a new listing for a Forest Service Campground near Frenchman's Lake.
