Just curious where you folks store the folding stairs in transit... If you store them inside the Alaskan, how do you secure them? I know I'll figure this out on our first trip, but I always appreciate the wisdom on this site!

Thanks!

ArtTrek: As an owner of a 10' Alaskan cabover mounted to an F350 long bed dually storing steps has been a giant pain...if you put them in the camper inside a duffle bag they bang around on the floor with the potential to chew up your cabinets. My solution has been to put a carryall on the rear hitch and place them there under the dropped tailgate....making sure the carryall width doesn't interfere with the deployment of the folding stairs. However, I'm now in the process of designing a new carryall to be fabricated shortly and mounted inside the carryall will be a truck tool box which will in essence become the back porch and final step before going into the rear camper door. I plan to mount the folding stairs onto the truck tool box instead of the camper itself....when the stairs are not in use they will be inside the tool box along with other items such as a spare propane bottle....a scottle for cooking (www.tembotusk.com) ....etc. On one side of the toolbox I plan to have a 5 gal diesel can and on the other a 5 gal can for capturing grey water.

I was wondering what to do with them also. They are a giant pain to take off and on. Do you use a wrench to tighten them down and loosen when removing or is there some kind of quick connect thing that can be used? They are great when on, but I wish there was a better way to stow them.

popRoid, sounds like a workable solution. I'm going to try a lower tech approach once we get our Alaskan. Thanks!
