A weeks worth of big storms lined up right over California. I wanted to get out this weekend. I don't mind traveling in rain and snow, I don't even mind camping in "some" rain and snow. Being cooped up inside the camper the whole time though isn't my idea of fun. Not to mention its probably the wise choice to avoid travel to the mountains this weekend. At least I'll get a good chance to see if I fixed my water leak.

Not the most pleasant weekend to travel.

If anyone is interested, or for the weather nerds out there, I could put together a list of links that provides copious amounts of weather information and data including forecasts and discussions that much of the public never sees

Personally, I'm WAY more tolerant of snow than rain -- once I get to my destination, anyway.

Forecast for most of Nevada looks similar. I won't be in camping mode until the 26th, so I can still be optimistic.

Check out my Desert Weather page (also useful for adjacent non-desert areas) for handy links to weather reports for lots of spots across the desert West courtesy of Weather Underground (the weather organization, not the '60s/'70s domestic terrorist organization

I hear ya Craig, I'm off for two weeks starting today and there is solid rain forcasted for the next 6 days. I don't mind camping in the rain but this is a little ridiculous. I'm sure i'll bug out for an overnighter or two but sheesh. Hopefully the second half will be better. Might just have to go with the flow and hit Mammoth for some pow.

KOFA NWR will be in the mid to high 70's during the day and low 50's at night. We were there about this time a couple of years ago and its was spectacular. It's easy to get to and once you get some distance between you and the 95 you will be alone to enjoy the peace and quiet. Well there are the fighters planes but they're kinda fun to watch.

Yeah I got skunked on Thanksgiving break on camping because of storms and it looks like Christmas break is the same deal I'm bummed. But needing to get out my snorkel for neck deep pow will help to cheer me up :)

Weather nerd numero uno (ME) would love to see copious amounts of weather info the public never sees..Thanks CORT!

We're having this subject weather at my house this morning...though not unusual for Bend, Oregon. 4 - 5" of new so far, but not much more forecast today.

well go over to the redwoods!

the trees, with the cover they provide, at least make the rain easier to deal with. I know its all damp but thats what the ferns and trees love.

ever been to hendy woods?

very few people are out this time of year and the parks away from population centers are devoid of people.
