Texas/Louisiana coast camping ideas?

My wife and I are heading South to escape a part of our Northern MN winter. Going to head to Galveston Bay first then most likely wander a bit East. Anybody have any camping favs? I know this is a bit "out of bounds" for the Wander the West site, but just checking.....

I like the idea but don't have any camping suggestions. It is a trip I'd like to do so I look forward to your reports and pix.

I would head to the Bolivar Peninsula. You can camp right on the beach:

Crystal Beach Permits

If you want an off road adventure, then you can check out SH 87.

If you like bird watching, check out The Big Thicket.

If you want to go a bit further South, Padre Island National Seashore is an awesome TX beach experience.

As for LA, I usually don't go that way, but there are some WtW members out there who may chime in.
