Things I've learned

I was curious about the track you mentioned and eagerly clicked on the link. It's 80/20! For those who don't know of this stuff, it is an "Engineer's Erector Set". There all kinds of fittings, brackets, etc. available for it.
Fastenal's catalog of extrusions and accessories: https://www.fastenal.com/products/raw-materials/extruded-t-slot-bars-accessories/80-20-inc?r=~%7Cmanufacturer:%5E%2280/20%20INC%22$%7C~%20~%7Ccategoryl1:%22600930%20Raw%20Materials%22%7C~%20~%7Ccategoryl2:%22602694%20Extruded%20T-Slot%20Bars%209and%20Accessories%22%7C~

Note that there are several inch and metric pattern sizes available. jakemartin used 1/2 height Series 10 (1 inch), p/n 1050: https://8020.net/shop/1050.html The std thread size for Series 10 is 1/4-20, but smaller sizes are available. Note that you can order the extrusion cut to the exact length desired, and the cuts are both square and completely burr-free. They can also do other custom stuff limited only by your imagination and wallet.

We use this stuff at work and I can not say enough good about it. I frame whole production machines with it.

Yeah, that stuff looks neat. Perfect for a homemade roof rack. Might put some in my camper for hold downs. Thanks for posting the info.
