Hi guys,
Can someone provide details as to the length and positioning of the external lift struts? I have a few photos, but haven't seen anyone give any specifics. Would sure love some details as well as experience as to how much it may have assisted with the roof lifting.

I have seen a few different posts about the lift struts. It seems 4 30-40 lb struts is what I am looking for. Any information about the length? Also, I noticed that there are a few folks that did side mount rather than front and back. I wonder if there are advantages or disadvantages to either method.

It looks like maybe this might be the correct strut. Anybody able to confirm?

Side mounts might interfere with an awning if you were thinking of getting one.....

Sure,I just went to Ebay and bought 4 -36" 30lb lift struts and 8 offset brackets,really didn't have a part number but the vendor was "strut your stuff here" and it was all under $100

Yea these were from "strut your stuff" on ebay,great guy to deal with

That link looks to be correct but I used 30lbs instead of 40lb I guess it's up to you on the poundage but for me 30 worked great helps getting it raised but not so heavy that it's difficult to pull down.. Pretty easy to install also..

Thanks for the info. it seems 30- 40 is what everyone seems to be using. I see that several people say that the front pops back up when you close the back when you use the 40lb struts unless there is additional weight on the roof.

WVtradbow, I was curious how you attached your push bar to the emt for the front lift panel. I have a couple ideas in mind, but wondered how others have done it. Its really a convienence thing since the roof tends to stay easily while I climb up there and put it in place. Just trying to cut down on the crawling up there.

Hey WVtradbow,

Was wondering if I could run one more questions by you. I recently continue on the old rebuild and now have the emt lifter panels both front and back. Also I do not have canvas on right now but am currently building that. Anyhow, the lifter build went great and I have everything installed. I use a pin to lock the lower and the upper emt together when the roof is in the up position.

My question to you, do you use anything else to lock the extended panel in place? Mine can still pivot a lot at the bottom pivot point (where connected to the camper). I am not sure if once I have the canvas on, will that canvas be enough to hold everything tight, or do I really need to add some sort of arm or bar brace to stop the entire panel from pivoting back and forth.

Any insight you can offer is greatly appreciated. Best - Tim
