This is not Four Wheel Camper event, but it looks like fun !

:)

Just thought I would post this for any WanderTheWest people that might be interested in going camping for a night.

Sounds like it will be fun and the event will be supporting a good cause.

I will be interested to see all of the different personal vehicles people will be bringing.

:)

I'm planning on heading down there early Saturday morning and arriving around 12:00 - 1:00pm on Saturday.

Will probably throw a new Fleet Model on my truck, and hopefully bring my son, and maybe a small quad and a bike.

I believe Dave Druck from Trasharoo is putting this all together.

We saw it posted on his Facebook page.

"TOYS FOR TOTS"

DECEMBER 8th-9th, 2012 - OVER-NIGHTER

Well its that time a year again, Yet again! It's our 6th year for organizing this and I can't believe how fast time flies. I like to mix things up and always keep the event fresh, so this year we have a new location that will serve as a great venue for all types off Off Road Enthusiasts.

The Location will be Hungry Valley State Vehicle Recreation Area, Gorman CA - Located just north of Los Angeles.

http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1192

I've rented out the entire Aliklik Campground right next to the 4x4 Practice Course. The campground is near trails for exploration and serves as the gateway to the Los Padres NF.

The park is large with over 100 mile of trails and there's something for everyone, not just Overlanders. You can ride green sticker dirt bikes, quads and buggies. We want to appeal to a larger spectrum of folks so we can optimize our Toy Drive success!

DATE:

December 8th, 9th 2011. (First Weekend in December!).

Not too close to Christmas and New Years and a far enough from Thanksgiving. Pencil it in now!

TIME: The Toy Drive is 9am-4pm. Overnight Camping and Day-Use Welcome

FEE's:

Day Use - $5 per day

Camping - $10 per night

LOCATION:

http://www.mapquest.com/maps?address=46001+Orwin+Way&city=Gorman&state=CA&redirect=true

WHAT IS IT?

So this is how it works. You bring a new unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more to the meet up. You get a raffle ticket for your contribution. PLEASE NOTE: For every 5th toy you donate you will receive an additional raffle ticket. Reminder so we're clear and everyone has a fair chance of winning a prize... If you drop off 100 toys , you will not receive 100 tickets. Also, new for this year - If you're in anyway involved with the event coordinating, setup etc, you will not be eligible to win prizes.

We also have 3 categories you can win for prizes (See Below). Check out everyones rigs, meet new people and see some you already know. The Marines will be on site to help out and haul all the donations back to where they need to go.

FOOD:

We will be providing lunch on site. Hotdogs, chips and sodas.

Note: If you don't want a hotdog and prefer something else, this is a camp out and therefore come prepared with food. Also, bring water and all necessary emergency prep you may need.

SCHEDULE:

Check in to arrive is 9am. We'll be starting the grilling around NOON and start into the raffle about about 2pm. All on Saturday. The rest of the time, you can drop off toys (if after the raffle, you won't get a chance to win anything), meander around and oogle the rigs and meet fellow off road enthusiasts from all over the www.

Sunday, those who've camped.. there may be a trail run up to Alamo Mountain. More information on this as it becomes available. The trail run will be a scenic and simple route. Nothing hardcore.

RAFFLE DRAWING ON SITE:

We are starting to contact vendors for Raffle Prizes as of right now, so i don't have a firm list up yet. But if it's anything like the last 4 years, everyone should walk away really happy. I will get a thank you list up ASAP.

Trophies & Prizes will be awarded for the following:

Most Toys Donated

Most Distance Traveled To Arrive at the Event

Vendors are welcome as long as they're not selling items. In other words, come, show up, pop open your camper, show people stuff, but don't setup a booth and start selling stuff. Remember, this event is about the kids, not about unloading goods. Lets keep it that way. That and my permit doesn't allow folks to sell. Please respect this.

Laws & Safety:

http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1234

Dogs are fine as long as they're on leash at all times and they're cool around people, kiddos and other dogs.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me via PM.

Hope to see everyone there,

Dave Druck

My wife & I were able to work in several hours to come out since HVSRA is only about an hour from us. If you haven't me them, the AdventureTrio (Dixie is every bit a part of their team even if she is only a "fur-person") don't be shy if you happen to see them somewhere. Dave, Yosh, & Dixie are good people, and this is an event worth supporting. I don't think that they expected it to be this big of a turn-out when they first started it. Not my normal sort of thing, way, way too many people but given the cause I was happy to see the large turn-out.

D wasn't too sure about watching the big dawgs play on the Practice Hill. I assured her that her Badlands off-road driving class early next year isn't likely to put her on the big rocks course. One guy in a JK seemed to have perfected getting perfectly high-centered near the start. Once he got that out of his system he walked right up the rest of it.

SimiMike: It was nice to meet you!

Stan: We saw the truck & camper, but didn't see anyone around. Sorry to have missed you.

sorry we missed each other

:(

must have been walking around or up on the hill watching the 4x4 stuff

I brought my son and was trying to mix a little business with pleasure for this trip

:)

We had a great time this weekend.

Wanted to say "Thank You" to Dave & his wife from Trasharoo (and all of the sponsors and people donating toys) for putting this event together and all of their hard work.

It was for a very good cause.

If you like social outings, meeting new people, riding dirt bikes, ATV's, or 4x4 / jeeping, this is a fun event.

Mark your calendars for next year.

A great bunch of people to hang out with for the weekend.
