Truck camper rental near Las Vegas?

My wife and I are trying to figure out how to fly from Virginia into Vegas and spend a week in Death Valley next February.
We would like to rent a 4wd rig so that we can get off the paved roads and see some of the sites I have read about here.

Any suggestions??

I'm not aware of anyone that rents 4x4 RV's in Las Vegas but they are probably out there. You can rent anything in Las Vegas, but it will probably be expensive.

Is tenting out of the question? Lots of places will rent you a Wrangler or comparable 4x4 SUV.

Yes tenting is a definite possibility as we have all the stuff. I guess we could ship out our stuff to a hotel that we would stay at for the first night and go from there..

For those of you that have been to DV is a 4x4 necessary to go to places like the racetrack and other places like some of the ghost towns?
