This fire is the first I've heard of using blasting to remove trees. Interesting.

On the steep slopes of the Rubicon Canyon it was far too dangerous to get falling crews working. In many places in the King Fire burn the brush is six feet deep. A lot less work to blow them down and the blasters are a long ways away when up to 100 are taken down/detonated at once.
