I think this one below is a 1978 FWC (Not a 1988 FWC).

It looks too old and has the markings & features of the original 1970's FWC's.

Finally heard back from this guy. He's an older gentleman, doesn't get out enough any more. Owned it for 7 years, bought it from his friend who owned it for 10 years who bought it from the original owner who didn't have it long at all.

He said it's a 1992 or 1993 model. He said the fridge worked sometimes on propane, sometimes not. Complained about "cobwebs the lines", hehe. Stove works, furnace. "Canvas" is sound, no tears in the upholstery. I've read the buying guide here, anything else I should ask about and investigate in particular? I do own a camper now so I'm aware of where to hunt for things. If upper fabric in the pop-up is bad, what's the replacement cost?

I wasn't really planning to buy one so soon, but heck $1000 can't be beat, right? Tell me why I shouldn't buy this camper. I have a year 2000 Chevy 2500 and the fit guide makes it look like it will fit.

What model is it? Did he check the manufacturer date on the back of the camper? If it is older than he thinks it is ,say 1988 it will be too wide for your truck.

It looks like a 1992 or a 1993.

It looks like an 8' long camper.

The camper might (or might not) have small 2" aluminum filler wings on the back of the camper that would need to be trimmed off for the camper to beter fit a 2000 Chevy 2500, but it is not that hard to do.

But besides that it should be OK (in theory).

The price looks good too !

:)

Yes, blowtorch, the owner said 1992 or 1993, as Stan confirmed. I have no reason to doubt it since the owner recounted a very clear previous ownership picture to me.

Stan, by "trimmed off" do you mean like with an angle grinder or a sawzall or... ? Trying to think of tools to bring with me. Or could it fit on my truck for the straight-line ride home to deal with later? And what's the cost/process for replacing the fabric upper?
