Used Camper Alert Thread

I can understand his concern it just looks 'big' on the tundra... i'm also looking for a 2003 tundra access cab and this conversation has me wondering, i just don't want to end up 'lugging' around a big "lite weight/compact" camper.

It definitely fits, but...

I talked to this fellow about his 2005 fully loaded Hawk. No furnace. Unfortunately again, too tall for my 2001 Tundra. Still looking for my Kestrel or even Eagle that is not as tall as the standard Hawk. Keith barnesclan@hotmail.com

I love how people say "every option" and right off the get go we hear there is no furnace. To me every option means its also going to have EVERY option and that includes furnace, solar, hot water, etc. since those are all options.

People just need to take a half second to list what their rigs have and post up some pictures so they get informed buyers.

Agreed. Never saw a slimmer ad for a Hawk

I saw an older FWC (brown stripes on sides) for sale at an RV dealer in Delta, Colorado on Sunday. Didn't stop or make inquiry about price, but it's defintely there.

Didn't note the dealer name but I just searched "RV dealer Delta, Colorado" on Googly and only 2 dealers came up in Delta...both on Hwy 50 where the FWC is located. Might be worth a quick search and a coupla calls (?)

I agree with you. It looks big on my Tundra, and it looks small on my Ford.

The question you want to ask yourself is....how long am I going to keep my current truck....and what might I be replacing it with?

These campers cost a lot of money (bought it new). It is not something that I want to replace every time I change trucks (every 8 or 9 years). I think it is a mistake to purchase a camper that only fits one year/model truck. Just my 2 cents.

$2500 - Tucson - AZ

This is a 1994 Four Wheel Popup camper (from Woodland, Calfornia), which slides into a six foot truck bed. I have used it on Ford Ranger. Tie downs are inside the bed, so they have to be installed in the truck that is going to be used. The unit comes with two camper jacks, one for each side (tripod type). There are no other jacks. Unit has a 12 gallon water tank, 20 pound bottled gas, and a 1 cu. ft. 3 way (gas, 12V, AC) Dolmatic refrigerator. Inside there is a sink and two burner stove. Unit sleeps two in a queen sized bed format. Storage consists of a drawer for utensils, and two places for dishes and food. Under the six foot long bench seat is a marine battery (heavy duty), and storage. There is a porta-potty under the bench seat.
Everything on the unit is in good to excellent condition.
Electrical hookups for rear lights have to be installed on the truck that the camper us to be used on. On my truck I have a charging system that charges the battery, and there is an electrical plug that can be used to connect to a charging system.
Buyer is responsible for all hookups and tiedowns.
Seller will help load camper on truck to make sure it fits.

Does anybody on the site recognize this model? Looking for my 2001 Tundra SB access cab. I am 6'1". Would it have to be on a platform?

dorocks, this looks like the Ranger II model. We bought a used one this summer, remodeled it, and use it on our Ford Ranger. This is an older version of FWC current Eagle and ATC Bobcat. The ceiling height is 6'. I do not know about fit on your Tundra. Here is a thread on our project. Others, please correct me if my info is faulty.

ski3pin, Where did you get the stove and sink with the covers? Are they sturdy and do you like them?

Aerycorp markets them through ebay under that user name (the OEM is SMEV)

I like them in my rig (pics in the link in my signature).

We like the sink and stove. I believe I first saw these in pods8's info. We bought them off ebay also. I did call the company - I believe their number was listed in the auction - and talked about shipping costs before I did the "buy it now". They shipped the two units together to me for around $26 UPS which was much better than the shipping costs listed in the auction.
