Wall Hook

I want to mount a hook on the drivers side wall to secure a 6' nylon tie down compression strap so I can secure my cooler on the "step" over the wheelwell (I have a Bobcat shell). The cooler sits on the "step" but won't stay up there while driving obviously. I was thinking of using a strong but small jacket hook to hook the compression strap onto. One hook would be mounted on the furnace cabinet but the other hook would be on the wall. I don't know if the wall is strong enough to hold this with only two screw (I'd use #6 maybe) or should I consider screwing it into a frame stud? I'd have to drill two small holes in the frame stud to do this but it'd be a much stronger hold. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I would go into the frame to secure the hook. If you don't you are only putting the screws into 5/32" panel and I doubt they will hold.

I would also go to a #8 screw if you can.
