For our third trip we went to Wallowa Lake which is in Eastern Oregon. I had never been there and knew it was very commercialized, but heard that there was some good fishing. Also this will be a good chance to check fuel usage and see how long the batteries would last without a recharge. And lastly a chance to see the Moraine caused by the glacier movement some time ago.
Our first rest stop was in Minam:

decided to go on a bike ride around the lake while we wait for the campsite to open up.

we did not get far before the trail was closed due to a no trespassing sign so had to go back to see if the camp site was open.
The stream feeding the lake was nice and very cold..

We went to the Marina next as we were going to rent a boat to try the fishing the next morning..

At the campsite the deer while being rather ragged looking most likely from eating people food, where rather unconcerned about people..

We went up the tram to get a different view of the lake and mountains...

Below you can see the Moraine on the East side of the lake. the west side had the same ridge. Seems it started warming up here thousands of years ago for the glacial back and forth action that dug the lake.

After catching 40 plus smaller hatchery fish with most going back in the water. Was time to go see the fireworks on the water....

All in all was a good trip. The weather was mid 80's during the day and low 50's at night. On the last morning the batteries in the camper were low enough for the compressor fridge to stop keeping things cool. So 4 days is it until I can get a solar panel or I charge them another way.

Looking forward to the next trip....

That's a great area that I haven't visited in a long time. Thanks for the photos! I too remember the poor, ratty-looking deer.

we mostly caught trout as the lake was stocked a few days before we got there. I will need to go back and fish for the kokanee they do taste much better...

I will also be staying at the pacific-corp campground next time as it is a bit more remote and site #1 is very nice...
