I searched around here, it seems people use everything from jack fluid, transmission fluid and hydraulic fluid.

What does Alaskan use in the new campers with the 1.5" cylinders?

I asked Bryan when I visited the factory, and I I believe he said they were using the equivalent of Mil-Spec 5606 hydraulic fluid. So it would not have the red dye that is in the military version. Call them to be sure.

I was told by Bryan NOT to get jack oil, but real hydraulic fluid. I found it easily in a farm supply, as "premium tractor hydraulic fluid". My camper is a 2015 model.

I went with Dexron 3 ATF, seems to be fine, no leaks past the piston rings at 70f, even left the roof half down for a bit. I actually bought 3 different types of fluids, but was afraid that the hydraulic fluid would be too thick in the winter as others have posted, so went with the ATF, I can always switch later if needed.
