Where to store extra pull-out mattress (Ranger 2)?

Hello!

I just bought a 1993 Ranger 2 and the previous owner stored the 3-4" memory foam for the pull-out mattress under the lower bed/cot on the right side of the truck. This takes up a lot of storage space. The top won't close with it stacked on top of the front non-pull-out foam mattress.

Surely there was a more elegant solution in the original design? How was this intended to work? Thinner foam, perhaps?

Thanks!

I believe that the original design is: After the front is lowered, pull the slide out part toward the rear and put the mattress on the pulled out part (just like you would do if you were going to sleep on it), then lower the rear, tucking in the corners from inside. For the reverse, when you want to pop the top, you need to temporarily remove that mattress and push in the slide. Once the top is up, I just toss those pull out mattress parts on top of the bed, so I can stand up and move around inside. It's part of the process, takes about a minute. No big deal.

Ah! Man, that is simple. I knew I just wasn't thinking about it right. Thanks!
